Andreas Zeller brings professional experience in entrepreneurship, investment banking and emerging market private equity. He began his career at a start-up technology venture, for which he managed operations and worked on capital raising efforts. Andreas then entered investment banking, working first with Citigroup in New York and London, then with Credit Suisse in New York. During this period, Andreas advised clients in the technology sector on equity, debt and mezzanine capital raisings, mergers and acquisitions and company restructurings.
Andreas left Credit Suisse to join the infrastructure investment team at the International Finance Corporation (IFC), World Bank Group, first as term staff in Washington, D.C. then as a consultant in Nairobi, Kenya. At IFC, Andreas was responsible for analyzing, structuring and executing “double bottom-line” investments across Africa, Latin America and Eastern Europe.
Andreas is from New York and is fluent in English and French. He covers East Africa from Open Capital’s Nairobi Office.
Annie Roberts, Partner
Annie Roberts brings professional experience in global management consulting, having advised Fortune 100 clients in developed and emerging markets with The Boston Consulting Group (BCG). At BCG, Annie led multi-divisional client teams on projects spanning manufacturing, supply chain, organizational strategy, new product development and customer marketing. She has worked across industries with clients in international finance, information and communication technology, consumer packaged goods and industrial goods, among others.
Annie has traveled extensively and worked on advisory assignments for SMEs in Tanzania, offering strategic guidance related to expansion and capital-raising. On a global level, Annie has advised large multi-national corporations on strategies to expand global manufacturing and sales to East Africa in order to target the rapidly growing consumer demand in the region.
Annie is from Chicago, USA and is fluent in English and Spanish. She covers East Africa from Open Capital’s Nairobi office.
Janosch Mahmoudian, Manager
Janosch Mahmoudian brings professional experience in development consulting and business management.
He started his career at the United Nations Development Programme, where he planned and implemented the organization’s global emergency response system. Janosch then joined GIZ, Germany’s leading development agency. At GIZ, Janosch advised private healthcare providers in Kenya on effective operational and financial strategies.
Following GIZ, Janosch joined the management team of an SME based in Nairobi, offering strategic guidance related to operations, expansion, and capital-raising.
Janosch is from Karlsruhe, Germany and is fluent in German, English and French. He holds a Masters of Public Health from Columbia University.
Michael Tucci, Manager
Michael Tucci joins Open Capital as a Manager and brings experience in management consulting, marketing, and microfinance.
Prior to joining Open Capital, Michael worked as a consultant with ZS Associates where he advised multinational corporations on sales and marketing strategy and operations, working out of the US and Europe. While at ZS, Michael primarily focused on the healthcare sector, devising market access strategies for pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies in emerging markets.
Michael began his career in microfinance, working with the non-profit MicroFinance Transparency to encourage consumer protection in global microfinance markets. His experience in microfinance also includes research with the Poverty Action Lab at MIT, where he worked in Morocco to study the impact of providing microcredit to the rural poor.
Michael is from New York and, in addition to his native English, has advanced proficiency in French. He earned his undergraduate degree from Harvard University where he studied economics and psychology and holds a master’s degree from Columbia University in applied statistics.
Sarah Feldmann, Project Leader
Sarah joins Open Capital as a Project Leader and brings experience in investment consulting and impact investing.
Sarah began her career at Cambridge Associates, an investment consulting firm that provides portfolio management advice and investment oversight services to a wide range of global institutional investors. While at Cambridge Associates, Sarah supported clients ranging from foundations, endowments and high net worth individuals for whom she advised on asset allocation and manager selection, with a focus on their venture capital and private equity strategies.
Most recently, Sarah worked in Nairobi with Invested Development (“ID”), a seed-stage impact investing firm, which invests in alternative energy, agricultural technology and mobile technology start-ups in emerging markets. During her time with ID, Sarah supported due diligence efforts and equity investments in East Africa and India, as well as research and development for an innovative working capital fund aimed at supporting high-growth enterprises in East Africa.
Sarah graduated from Dartmouth College with a degree in Economics modified with Engineering Sciences, and a concentration in Developing Economics and Finance.
David Loew, Project Leader
David joins Open Capital as a Project Leader and brings experience in management consulting, industry research, and international development. Prior to Open Capital, David worked in Germany at the Boston Consulting Group, where he advised large European and international clients on growth and financing strategies, primarily in the energy, insurance and industrial goods sectors.
Prior to joining BCG, David worked for the UK government on a research project analysing the technological and economic feasibility of various climate change mitigation technologies. He also worked at several scientific UN organizations performing similar research.
Originally from Vienna, Austria, David is a native speaker of English and German and is currently building a working knowledge of French. He holds degrees in economics and physics from Oxford and Cambridge Universities respectively.
Angelous Kamande, Senior Analyst
Angelous brings professional experience in accounting, audit, and financial systems. After graduating with honors in commerce and accounting from Kenyatta University, he went on to acquire Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) level II qualification, with additional certification in Quickbooks. He then worked as an auditor for a Kenyan financial consultancy, assisting SME clients in preparing their financial systems and statements. Angelous next worked as an accountant in an ISO certified Kenyan SME, then moved to a fast-growing Kenyan SME to help set-up a full accounting system and later become Finance and Administration Manager as the company grew to cover East Africa.
As a Senior Analyst at OCA, Angelous works directly with OCA’s clients, advising on financial strategy, company organization, and accounting systems and internal controls.
Angelous is from Kenya and is fluent in English and Kiswahili.
Rodney Carew, Senior Analyst
Rodney brings diverse professional experience in consulting and development.
Prior to joining Open Capital as Senior Analyst, Rodney worked in the United States for Wipro Limited, a global consulting and outsourcing firm. During his time at Wipro, Rodney helped develop an enterprise-wide internal communication platform and HR repository for the largest electronics retailer in the US.
Rodney started his career at Northwestern University, where he managed donor relations for the University’s largest college. While pursuing his Master’s degree at Wake Forest University, he served as a consultant to Debbie’s Staffing, a national US staffing firm, advising senior leadership on critical business issues including benefit packages and IT infrastructure.
Rodney has also worked with the Albireo Group, a management consulting firm for social-purpose organizations, where he worked with clients on strategic planning, fund development, and operational efficiency.
Rodney is from Freetown, Sierra Leone and has lived in Kenya and the US. He received his B.A. in Political Science & International Studies from Northwestern University and M.A. in Management from Wake Forest University Schools of Business.
While at Strathmore University, Daniel initiated and led a research project in the e-commerce sector which was selected by the University as a basis for future research into such business models. His coursework included business, finance, and accounting, as well as collaborative software projects. Daniel was selected for and completed a competitive internship with the Kenya Commercial Bank, one of East Africa’s leading banks, where he rotated through several divisions and was recognized as a top performer.
Daniel is from Nairobi, Kenya and is fluent in English and Kiswahili and is an intermediate in French.
Fridah Cherono, Business Analyst
Fridah joins Open Capital from Strathmore University, where she earned a Bachelor of Commerce in Business Administration, with a focus on finance and accounting. She is currently in process for a Certified Public Accountant certification.
During her time at Strathmore, Fridah interned with the National Bank of Kenya (NBK) and Action Aid Mombasa, as part of their accounting department. At NBK, Fridah performed customer credit analyses and developed marketing schemes for the bank’s products. Upon completion of her internship, Fridah was recognized by NBK for exemplary performance.
Jerioth Wakarima Mwaura, Business Analyst
Jerioth joins Open Capital from Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT) where she completed a Bachelor’s degree in Actuarial Science with first class honors. She is also a Certificate of Public Accountant (CPA) finalist.
Jerioth brings work experience in equity research with the Chartered Financial Analysts association in Kenya and with the Actuarial Services East Africa (ACTSERV), where she worked on actuarial valuation and investment analysis. Her analyses at ACTSERV were presented to pension funds interested in investing in several listed companies on the Nairobi Stock Exchange.
Jerioth is from Kenya and is fluent in English and Kiswahili. She is interested in financial analysis and business strategy and is passionate about using her business skills and education to affect social change and drive SME growth in Kenya.
Ephraim Njogu, Business Analyst
Ephraim joins Open Capital from the Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT), where he earned a BSc degree in Actuarial Science with honors.
While at JKUAT, Ephraim co-founded a consumer logistics company and worked on many angles of its operations and growth. He was also a member of the SF investment group, where he conducted extensive research and financial analysis of viable growth stocks on the Nairobi Stock Exchange. His recommendations ultimately led to a return of more than 15% on the group’s invested capital. Ephraim is currently pursuing his actuarial certification through the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries and an advanced diploma from the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA).
Ephraim is from Nairobi and is fluent in English and Kiswahili. His interests are in entrepreneurship, financial market analysis and investment management.
