Andreas Zeller co-founded Open Capital and has deep experience leading client teams across our focus sectors and countries.

Andreas brings professional experience in investment banking and emerging market private equity, working with Citigroup in London and Credit Suisse in New York focused on mergers and acquisitions and leveraged buy-outs.

After Credit Suisse, he joined the infrastructure investment team at the International Finance Corporation (IFC) first in Washington, D.C. then in Nairobi, Kenya. At IFC, Andreas was responsible for analyzing, structuring and executing private equity investments across Africa, Latin America and Eastern Europe.

Annie Roberts co-founded Open Capital, and brings professional experience in global management consulting, having advised Fortune 100 clients with The Boston Consulting Group (BCG). At BCG, Annie led multi-divisional client teams on projects spanning manufacturing, supply chain, organizational strategy, new product development and customer marketing. She has worked across industries with clients in international finance, information and communication technology, consumer packaged goods and industrial goods, among others.

Andrew brings experience in strategy, research, and economics to Open Capital, where he has co-led engagements in renewable energy, healthcare, education, and agribusiness. Before joining, Andrew oversaw research for Harvard University’s behavioral economics labs in southern India. Prior to this, Andrew worked as a member of NERA Economic Consulting’s Energy Group, advising companies and public entities on environmental strategy and economic analysis.

Andrew has worked professionally in East and West Africa, the Middle East, India, and the USA. He speaks English and French, and has degrees in Economics and Neuroscience from Middlebury College.

Angela joins Open Capital from Pearl Capital Partners (PCP), a private equity fund focused on SME investments in East Africa, and was part of the team that helped negotiate a $2 million debt & equity investment in a Kenyan agribusiness, among other work. Angela has a Bsc. (Hons) in Financial Engineering from Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT) and is currently in the process of acquiring an Association of Chartered Accountants Certification (ACCA).

Ann brings research experience on the intersection of the private and public sector. Together with several colleagues at the University of Nairobi, she completed a study assessing the effect of Kenyan government ownership on the financial performance of companies.

Ann graduated from the University of Nairobi, where she earned a Bachelor of Commerce with Honors. She is also a CPA graduate who was awarded top performance throughout Kenya in Advanced Financial Reporting and Quantitative Analysis.

Anne brings a strong operations and program management background to Open Capital. She oversees critical internal roles, including strategy & expansion administration, operations, finance, and talent management. Prior to Open Capital, Anne worked for a startup education company in Nairobi and also brings experience as an education program officer for the Walton Family Foundation. She started her career with PricewaterhouseCoopers.

Anne earned an MBA from the University of North Carolina, a Certificate in International Development Policy from Duke University, and a BBA from the College of William and Mary.

Chianda joins Open Capital from Strathmore University, where he earned a Bachelor of Business Information Technology with First Class Honors.

Previously, Chianda worked at Vivo Energy Kenya where he was part of the on-site-services (OSS) team. At Vivo Energy, Chianda’s work involved implementing business continuity planning strategies aimed at enhancing the company’s business technology infrastructure. Chianda has also worked at the United Nations Office in Nairobi as an intern software developer.

Chianda is from Kenya and is fluent in English and Kiswahili.

Christine brings experience in research, strategy consulting, and facilitation throughout East Africa. Prior to joining Open Capital, Christine co-founded a consultancy focused on improving the efficiency and effectiveness of large market development programmes. She previously worked for the Canadian Department of Foreign Affairs, then the Canadian International Development Agency, conducting research and developing technical guides for the design, cross-sector integration, and evaluation of economic growth projects. Christine holds a degree in International Development with a specialization in Economics from the University of Ottawa.

Crystal started her career in pensions and insurance sector having worked at the Retirement Benefits regulator in Uganda and the Pensions Institute in the U.K. Prior to joining Open Capital, Crystal ran the advisory function at QuantEast, a boutique asset management firm in Uganda. Crystal holds an MSc in Actuarial Science from Cass Business School, London and a BSc. in Actuarial Science from Makerere University in Kampala. She has certifications in Global Health from John Hopkins’ Bloomberg School of Public Health and a Diploma in Business Management.

Daniel brings experience in research, financial modelling, and systems analysis & design. He joined Open Capital as a Business Analyst, later becoming a Senior Analyst. He has supported cross sector engagements across East and Southern Africa including overseeing significant financial restructuring for a diversified manufacturing company in Tanzania while acting as the interim CFO. Daniel has a Bachelor of Business IT from Strathmore University and is fluent in English and Kiswahili and intermediate in French.

As part of Open Capital’s management team, David has overseen work on over 20 engagements for a range of businesses and investors across sectors including renewable energy, healthcare, agribusiness, and sanitation.

Prior to Open Capital, David worked in Germany at The Boston Consulting Group, where he advised large European and international clients on growth and financing strategies.

David is a native speaker of English and German and speaks conversational French. He holds degrees in economics and physics from Oxford and Cambridge Universities respectively.

Fredrick Lugadiro brings over 15 years of driving experience to Open Capital. In addition to serving as Open Capital's driver, he also assists with administrative duties as needed. Fred has prior work experience with Serengeti Breweries, Crown Berger, the Korean Embassy, Debenham and Company, and several United Nations’ staff members. Fred holds a Kenyan BCE valid Driving license and has developed excellent administrative skills that support Open Capital's growth.

Getrude joins Open Capital from the Ministry of Education Science and Technology (MoE) as part of their Central Planning and Project Monitoring Unit where she conducted comparative analysis between the education system in Kenya and other developed countries, to help model a funding function for allocation of funds to counties. Getrude graduated from Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT) where she earned her BSc. Financial Engineering with First Class Honors, and is currently in the process of acquiring her Certified Financial Analyst (CFA) charter. She speaks English, Swahili and French.

Holden brings experience in early-stage investing, business consulting, and mechanical engineering. Prior to joining Open Capital, Holden oversaw an early-stage investment fund while reading for his MBA at Oxford’s Said Business School. He consulted for The Walt Disney Company, developing strategy around consumer desires & competitive offerings in the digital media space in Africa.

Before Oxford, Holden worked for eight years as a mechanical engineer, designing successful consumer products and machinery for the cleantech, energy, and military markets.

Irene has extensive experience in strategy consulting and has led projects in multiple sectors including ICT, consumer goods, healthcare, and renewable energy.

Prior to Open Capital, Irene worked with Simon-Kucher & Partners, a strategy & marketing consultancy, where she advised Fortune 500 companies across sectors. She has additional experience in investment management.

Irene holds a Master in Public Policy from Harvard University’s Kennedy School of Government, and a BS in International Politics from Georgetown University. She is fluent in English and Mandarin Chinese, and is proficient in Spanish.

Prior to CHAI, Lyndsey spent four years as a consultant with Oliver Wyman’s Financial Services practices in Toronto and New York supporting clients across North America and Asia.

Lyndsey has an MA in Economics from the University of Toronto and a BA from the University of Alberta. She is fluent in English and proficient in both French and Spanish.

Prior to Open Capital, Paul served as Finance Manager of Basin Supply East Africa Limited, a US-based company that manufactures and sells oil field supplies and equipment, Finance Manager at a safari and tour company, and Chief Accountant at a Kenyan horticulture exporting company. Paul started his career as an audit senior. Paul is a certified Public Accountant CPA (K), Certified Public Secretary (K), and holds a diploma in Business Administration.

Rikesh brings professional experience in investment banking, debt structuring, risk management and financial modelling. Rikesh joined OCA from Santander’s Project & Acquisition Finance team in the UK where he was responsible for advising on and financing large-scale, renewable energy and infrastructure projects. Prior to this, Rikesh advised large corporate clients in the UK and Europe on raising and structuring debt financing. Rikesh is a CFA charterholder and leads Open Capital's capital raise work for SMEs and larger corporates.

Rodney previously worked for Wipro Limited, where he helped develop an enterprise-wide internal communication platform and HR repository for the largest electronics retailer in the US. While at Wake Forest University, Rodney advised Debbie’s Staffing, a national US staffing firm, on strategy and operations. Rodney has also worked for Northwestern University and the Albireo Group, a management consulting firm for social-purpose organizations. Samuel Matali has over 10 years of work experience in office support and organization. He is Open Capital’s Office Assistant and ensures that our working spaces remain clean and all office errands are immediately addressed.  Prior to joining Open Capital, Sam worked for Chemserve Cleaning Services and was part of the cleaning team for K-Rep Bank, Microsoft, KRA, VSO Jitolee, among others. Sam also assists in various administrative duties, including periodically welcoming visitors.
